Bruce and Barbara Neyers' Conn Valley family winery, shaped by years importing small French estates, now hosting 90-minute seated tastings in Oakville, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

Bruce and Barbara Neyers bought 35 acres in Conn Valley, in the hills east of St. Helena, in the early 1980s. Bruce was then national sales manager at Joseph Phelps, and Barbara cooked at Chez Panisse in Berkeley. They staged their first harvest in 1992, the year Bruce also joined importer Kermit Lynch, where he spent 25 years bringing in wines from small French family estates.
That French thread runs through the wines. Winemaker Tadeo Borchardt, here since 2004, favors naturally made, old-world wines. The 20-acre Conn Valley ranch supplies most of the Left Bank Red, the Neyers Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon and the ÂME Cabernet, while Chardonnay and other bottlings come from vineyards around California. Barbara's recipes and Bruce's journal on the winery's site show how much the family cares about wine at the table.
Neyers closed its Sage Canyon Road tasting room and now hosts guests at a partner property on Highway 29 in Oakville. The seated tasting lasts about 90 minutes, Thursday to Saturday, by appointment only. Walk-ins and early arrivals are not possible, so we time the pickup to arrive right at your appointment.
$50 per person for a seated tasting, about 90 minutes.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
