Monvitis is family-owned and was founded by winemaker Jon Schwartz, a former telecommunications and internet service executive who, in the winery's words, became obsessed with making wine that expresses place and time. It makes small lots from select vineyards in the Napa Valley and the North Coast, with long-term grower relationships at the core.
The flagship 2021 Cuvée Lynn Marie Cabernet Sauvignon blends valley fruit from the Calistoga AVA with mountain fruit from Atlas Peak, picked at 4 a.m., cold soaked and aged 20 months in French oak; Wine Enthusiast gave it 92 points. A 2021 Solano Classico, a Super Tuscan-style red from Suisun Valley, scored 93 points from Wine Enthusiast. Both current vintages are sold out.
