About the Winery

KNA is the personal label of Kristof Nils Anderson and his wife Jennifer. Kristof was the founding winemaker at Gargiulo Vineyards in Oakville for 18 years, until 2021, and the founding winemaker for the Booth Family Vineyards (now Bella Oaks) in Rutherford. He also co-founded Scribe Winery in Sonoma and has consulted for labels in Napa and Sonoma.

The couple started PELLA Cabernet in 2002 with a then-unusual plan: age the wine well before release. They made vintages from 2002 to 2009, then relaunched with 2022, from a one-acre Oak Knoll District plot Kristof farms by hand without pesticides or herbicides. SANNA Sauvignon Blanc joined with the 2019 vintage. Both are named for their daughters.

KNA sells its wines in small quantities through the online shop on its website, where tasting notes for each release are posted. The label publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors; questions go to the winemaker by email. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Milliken Creek Inn or Silverado Resort.

10:00 · Pickup at Milliken Creek Inn or Silverado Resort

Since KNA does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Milliken Creek Inn, an inn on the Napa River just off the Silverado Trail, is about 5 minutes from the first stop, and Silverado Resort, a golf and spa resort at the foot of Atlas Peak, about 10 minutes. The day fits about five and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:15 · Judd's Hill

About 5 minutes away. A two-generation family winery on the Silverado Trail where guests can blend, bottle and label their own wine. Seated Terrace Tastings among the vines are $45 to $65 by flight, about an hour. By appointment, Friday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

11:30 · Perliss Estate

About 15 minutes away. Aaron Pott's small Cabernet vineyard near the Knights Valley line, with whites aged in Tuscan amphorae, poured at the Latour Court tasting room in south Napa. The Perliss Estate Tasting is $80 to $110 depending on the flight; we allow about an hour. By reservation for parties of 1 to 8.

12:45 · Lunch at Boon Fly Café

About 15 minutes away. Lunch at Boon Fly Café in Carneros, which serves its daytime menu every day until 4 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:10 · Jean Edwards Cellars

About 25 minutes away. A family Cabernet house pouring in The Tasting Barn near Silverado Resort. The Portfolio Experience of top selections is $65, about 90 minutes. Reservations recommended; open weekdays noon to 4 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3:40 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 3:55 p.m., about six hours after pickup.

About $190 to $240 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Judd's Hill hosts Friday to Sunday, so this is a weekend plan. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
