Pam and Alan Bergman and their sons Ryan and Brett bought the property in 2013. Its history runs deep: Florentine Kellogg settled the land in 1846 and planted a two-acre vineyard, and in 1970 the Heinemann family planted Pinot Noir and Riesling here and sold grapes to Joseph Phelps for some of its early single-vineyard wines. In 2013 the Bergmans replanted it under David Abreu.
The ten acres sit at 500 to 700 feet on Spring Mountain in rocky Aiken soil, up to 10 degrees cooler than the valley floor: eight acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot, and two of Chardonnay on a steep triangular plot. The vineyard is certified organic and farmed with regenerative methods. Nigel Kinsman, formerly winemaker at Eisele Vineyard, makes a red blend and a Chardonnay.
The wines are available solely by allocation. The family told the Napa Valley Register that private tastings are only for trade, family and friends, because the ranch neighbors Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, so it does not receive visitors. The day below starts higher up Spring Mountain, visits a hilltop Cabernet family's tasting room in St. Helena and ends on the porch at OVID on Pritchard Hill.
Bergman does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
