About the Winery

Aerika Estate is the home ranch of Julia van der Vink and Rob Black, who met at Screaming Eagle. Julia also worked at Harlan Estate and Mayacamas, and Rob spent years at Screaming Eagle after harvests in New Zealand, Canada, Spain and France. They searched Mount Veeder for about a decade before buying the property in 2021, and they call it their forever home.

The ranch sits between 1,600 and 1,950 feet near the summit of Mount Veeder, on steep volcanic slopes swept by winds off San Pablo Bay. Everything is farmed and made by hand by a small team. About 12.5 acres are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay and Zinfandel, and Vinous introduced the project in 2024 as one of Napa Valley's most promising new ventures.

The first wines, called Prologue, were released in March 2026, ahead of the first estate Cabernet from the 2025 harvest. Wines go to members through the estate's website, and the estate does not receive visitors. The day below stays in the south of the valley, from a cellar tour in south Napa to Oaxacan mole pairings in downtown Napa.

Carneros Resort and Spa and Stanly Ranch are both in Carneros at the foot of Mount Veeder, about 12 minutes from the first stop. The day fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:15 · Mi Sueño Winery

About 12 minutes away. Rolando and Lorena Herrera's family winery in south Napa, where a behind-the-scenes tour of the working cellar ends with a seated tasting in the barrel room. $65 for the tour with the Dream Flight and chocolate truffles; we plan about 75 minutes. By appointment, Monday to Saturday.

11:45 · Addax Wines

About 15 minutes away. Russell Bevan's bold Oakville Cabernet and coastal Pinot Noir, poured at HQ Winery on Hoffman Lane just south of Yountville. Tastings are $75 to $200 depending on the experience; we plan about 75 minutes. By appointment, daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

1:20 · Lunch at Boon Fly Café

About 18 minutes away. Lunch at Boon Fly Café in Carneros, which serves its daytime menu every day until 4 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:45 · Bazán Cellars

About 12 minutes away. A family label from the vineyard manager who once ran To Kalon and Opus One, poured in downtown Napa, with Oaxacan mole pairings on offer. The Tradition Tasting is $60, 45 to 60 minutes ($125 for the tasting with three moles). Thursday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; walk-ins welcome, reservations encouraged.

3:45 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.

About $200 to $325 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Mi Sueño hosts Monday to Saturday and Bazán is open Thursday to Monday, so plan this day for a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Monday. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
