About the Winery

Addax began in 2009 with a few friends and a few barrels of Cabernet. It grew under winemaker Russell Bevan into a list of Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, Petaluma Gap and Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir and Sonoma Chardonnay. The winery describes its wines as unabashedly Californian, with brazen personality.

Russell Bevan came to wine as a collector and syndicated wine columnist before moving into the cellar in 2005, and he has since become one of the most sought-after winemakers in California, with a long run of 100-point scores. Associate winemaker Reed Skupny, born in St. Helena, worked at Pahlmeyer and in New Zealand and France before joining the team.

Addax is part of The Institution family of wines, made at HQ Winery on Hoffman Lane, inside the Yountville AVA. Tastings are by appointment at the working winery, booked through Tock or with the team, so this is a visit for guests who care most about what is in the glass. We time the pickup so you are there for the first slot.
