About the Property
The River Electric is a camp resort and swim club on 12 acres of meadows and redwood groves in Guerneville, one block from the Russian River and downtown. Guests stay in 46 furnished canvas tents, with king or two double beds, and share a central bathhouse with indoor and outdoor showers.
There are two pools, a restaurant and pool bar, and a full bar for overnight guests, and a continental breakfast is served at the Pool Bar each morning. It is open seasonally, from May to late October, pets are not allowed, and quiet hours run from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Korbel and Porter-Bass are about 10 minutes away, and Gary Farrell is about 15. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.
Getting Here From the Airport
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 16 miles, 30 minutes. The closest airport to The River Electric, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 82 miles, 2 hours 5 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 82 miles, 2 hours 10 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 111 miles, 2 hours 50 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.

About 10 minutes away. Estate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel from a century-old vineyard in a saddle between two redwood ridges at the top of Mays Canyon. Seated tastings for no more than 10, by appointment; the fee is confirmed when we book.

About 15 minutes away. A café, soda fountain and general store at the center of Graton since 1995, serving down-home comfort food. Lunch from 11:30 a.m., with brunch on Sundays. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

About 5 minutes away. Primus bassist Les Claypool's Pinot Noir label, made by Ross Cobb, in a big-top tasting room on Gravenstein Highway. A tasting of five pours is $35. Open Wednesday to Monday from 11:30 a.m.; walk-ins welcome.

About 15 minutes away. Small-lot Russian River Valley Pinot Noir from one of California's first gravity-flow wineries, built by hand by a math teacher. The Classic Wine Tasting is $40. Open daily 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; reservations recommended.
