The Kobler family has owned and run its Sebastopol property since 1987. In 1996 Mike Kobler Sr. and his brother Otto, with their wives Debbie and Barbara, planted the estate's first Syrah vineyard, and Mike Sr. and Debbie later bought the neighboring property, which came with half an acre of hand-tended Viognier. At the center stands a Victorian home built in 1870 and restored by the family.
Their son, winemaker Mike Kobler, founded Kobler Estate Winery in 2010, combining the family's winemaking tradition with modern techniques. He makes small lots of Burgundy and Rhône varieties from select vineyards in the Russian River Valley, while Mike Sr. and Debbie tend the estate and its Syrah.
Tastings are an intimate visit on the patio with Mike himself, looking over the vines toward the Green Valley, while he tells the stories behind the wines and the land. It is the kind of small, personal stop guests remember, and a cheese pairing can be added.
$25 per person for a tasting of curated current releases, plus $25 for the cheese pairing.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Current releases on the patio with Mike Kobler ($25, cheese pairing $25 more); the booking holds 90 minutes.
About 20 minutes away. A family-owned estate between Sebastopol and Occidental that pours only its own dry-farmed Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel. The private, seated tasting is a flight of six estate wines, and it can include a guided walk through the vines to see how dry farming works. By appointment; the fee is confirmed when we book.
About 20 minutes away. A bistro in the village of Graton with an open-air patio. Lunch is served Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 25 minutes away. Kenny Likitprakong's working winery in west Santa Rosa, home of Hobo, Folk Machine and Ghostwriter, made mostly from organically farmed vineyards. There is no separate tasting room: the visit starts with a walk through the production floor and barrel room, then a tasting in the winery's "living room," about 1 to 1.5 hours ($20, waived with a three-bottle purchase per taster). By appointment.

Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. All three are by appointment, Kobler with 48 hours' notice, and Underwood serves lunch Wednesday to Sunday, so we plan this day for those days.
About $45 to $70 per person for Kobler ($25, or $50 with cheese) and Hobo ($20, waived with a purchase); Square Peg's fee is to be verified upon reservation. Each is paid directly to the winery.
Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
