About the Property
Inn at the Tides is an 86-room hillside inn in central Bodega Bay, with lodge buildings looking out over the bay, the harbor or pasture. Rooms range from queen and king rooms to Sonoma Suites, plus a separate Bay-Side Cottage. Its sister restaurant across the highway, The Tides Wharf, was the backdrop for Hitchcock's The Birds.
There is a heated pool that is partly indoors, a whirlpool spa and a sauna, and in-room massage is available by appointment. A continental breakfast and a bottle of wine on arrival are included. The Bay View Restaurant & Lounge serves dinner Thursday through Sunday and hosts monthly winemaker dinners.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Black Kite Cellars, Freeman Vineyard & Winery and Emeritus Vineyards are all within about 40 minutes. We are based in Calistoga, in neighboring Napa Valley.
Getting Here From the Airport
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 27 miles, 55 minutes. The closest airport to Inn at the Tides, and the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
Oakland (OAK): about 79 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes. Often a quieter airport than SFO.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 79 miles, 1 hour 50 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 111 miles, around 2 hours. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
