Cedar Gables Inn is a Victorian-era mansion built in 1892, designed by architect Ernest Coxhead for Napa banker E. Wiler Churchill. It is on Coombs Street just south of downtown Napa, and the inn says it is the only Coxhead building in Napa.
A three-course breakfast is included, with evening wine and hors d'oeuvres. Several rooms have fireplaces, and the Gables and Lady Margaret's suites have two-person tubs. There is one first-floor accessible room, the other rooms are up stairs with no elevator, and there are no pets other than service animals.
It is also an easy place to start a wine tour. Saintsbury, Trefethen Family Vineyards and Darioush are all within about 15 minutes, and Yountville is about 20 minutes north. We are based in Calistoga, at the north end of the valley.
Oakland (OAK): about 51 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes. The closest airport to Cedar Gables Inn, and often quieter than SFO.
Sonoma County Airport (STS): about 45 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes. Often the easiest arrival: a small airport in Santa Rosa with no Bay Area traffic on the drive. Direct flights come in from Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and more.
San Francisco International (SFO): about 59 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes, and longer at busy times. The most flights, with a drive across the Bay Area.
Sacramento (SMF): about 64 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes. Skips Bay Area traffic entirely, though it is the longest drive of the four.
Flying private? We also meet guests at the FBOs at STS and Napa County Airport (APC). See our Sonoma County Airport car service page for more on flying into STS.
