Phil Coturri founded Sixteen 600 in 2007 with his wife, Arden Kremer, and their sons, Max and Sam. Phil has farmed organically since 1978 and runs his vineyard management company, Enterprise Vineyards. Sam grew up in what is now the Moon Mountain District, at the top of Lovall Valley Road and then at 16600, the family estate that gave the winery its name, and he joined the family business in 2011.
The winery makes small-batch, single-vineyard wines only from certified organic vineyards that Phil farms. The small estate vineyard at 16600 is carved out of a rocky bluff about 1,000 feet above downtown Sonoma and planted to head-trained heritage Zinfandel; the Simons Vineyard, a rocky volcanic basin high in the Moon Mountain District, gives Cabernet. The range runs to Grenache, Rhône varieties and field blends, with label art by Stanley Mouse.
The tasting house is a 120-year-old farmhouse one block from the Sonoma Plaza, where guests sit in antique theater seats and pick records for the turntable while wines are poured side by side for comparison.
$42 for the Tasting House Reservation, five wines from organically farmed vineyards, 90 minutes. $75 for the Moon Mountain District Wine Tasting, 90 minutes. $42 per person for the Large Group Tasting for 7 to 12 guests.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
