About the Winery
In 2014 the Belmonte family bought Wellington Cellars, a Glen Ellen property already known for its winemaking and for old-vine Zinfandel dating back to 1882. What began as a practical move, a winery and estate vineyards in the middle of Sonoma Valley, became a family passion, and Henry and Vittorio Belmonte have run it ever since.
The Belmontes love French wine, and the program leans toward boutique Bordeaux-style blends and small-lot estate bottlings. They built a new barrel room starting in 2017, updated the historic barn and opened a fully redesigned tasting room in 2024. Production is about 3,500 cases a year, made almost entirely from the 24-acre estate.
The best seats are outside. The Olive Grove Tasting puts you under the olive trees beside the vineyard, and the Vineyard Reserve Tasting & Tour adds a charcuterie board and a walk through the vines and the production facility. For the most personal visit, the Owners Tasting is hosted by Vittorio and Henry themselves. Walk-ins are welcome at the bar, and on a warm afternoon you can stay for a bottle on the patio.
Tasting Fees
$30 for the Bar Tasting of four wines. $40 for the seated Olive Grove Tasting of six wines. $50 for the Vineyard Reserve Tasting & Tour, six wines with a charcuterie board and a tour of the vineyard and winery. $130 for the Owners Tasting with Vittorio and Henry Belmonte.

11:45 · Annadel Estate Winery
About 15 minutes away. A 33-acre estate at the north end of Sonoma Valley, first established as a winery in 1880 by Henry and Anna Bolle, where the tasting takes in the historic ruins and the vineyard. Owners Katie Honey and Dan Whalen work with winemaker Drew Damskey on estate Merlot, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. The private tasting is $75, about 75 minutes, for one party of up to 6. By reservation only, daily.

About 10 minutes away. A steakhouse, seafood grill and oyster bar among the vineyards on the Sonoma Highway in Kenwood, with craft cocktails and tables overlooking a koi pond. Lunch is served Thursday to Tuesday. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
2:30 · Muscardini Cellars
About 5 minutes away. Michael Muscardini's Italian-style winery, pouring Sangiovese, Barbera and Super Tuscan-style blends inside a historic schoolhouse on the Sonoma Highway. All Things Italian is a tour, tasting and pairing that runs from aperitivo to house grappa, with the winery's own wine-infused salami, cheeses and olive oil ($75). By appointment, daily at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
