Pedro and Karen Arroyo founded Viluko in 2006, bringing together a history of Chilean winemaking and what they call a back-to-the-land, 1970s California attitude. Winemaker Tim Milos has shared their vision from the beginning.
Viluko is a 22-acre rocky hillside vineyard in the Mayacamas Mountains, between 600 and 1,100 feet, on a mix of alluvial and volcanic soils. It grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay and is farmed organically. The 2017 Tubbs Fire badly damaged the vineyards, and the family has spent the years since bringing them back. The wines have earned gold medals from the San Francisco Chronicle and the Sonoma County Harvest Fair, where the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon was named Best of Class, and 90-point scores from Wine Advocate and Wine Enthusiast.
This is a small family vineyard on Alpine Road, off Calistoga Road in the hills above Santa Rosa, without a public tasting room. Visits are by private request: we arrange it on your behalf with the family and confirm the time and fee when we book. The Reserve Cabernet comes from the highest blocks along the ridgeline, and its label, drawn by the Arroyos' son Alexander, maps the shape of the mountain.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
