Bob Cabral grew up on his family's farm near Escalon in the Central Valley, a fourth-generation farmer, and studied enology at Fresno State. After jobs at DeLoach, Kunde, Alderbrook and Hartford Court, he became winemaker at Williams Selyem in 1998 and led it for almost 17 years. His 2007 Litton Estate Pinot Noir was the first North American Pinot Noir to earn a perfect 100 points from Wine Enthusiast, which named him Winemaker of the Year in 2011.
Bob and his wife, Heather, have made wine under their own label since 2015, about 1,500 cases a year of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and dry Riesling from eight to ten vineyards in the Russian River Valley and on the Sonoma Coast. They take no salary and give the proceeds after expenses to children's charities, and each wine is paired with a song and a playlist Bob picks.
The Backstage Lounge, in a former art gallery on the Paradise Ridge property next to the LOVE sculpture, feels like Bob's living room, with a red leather couch, concert posters and guitars signed by Journey, Foreigner, Sammy Hagar and Joe Satriani. Tastings are private and by appointment, and the wines to know are the Troubadour and Electric Hippy Pinot Noirs and the Anne Rose Chardonnay.
$75 per person for a private tasting in the Backstage Lounge.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
