About the Winery

Kevin and Wendy Morrow began making wine as a hobby in 1986, starting in a garage, and spent more than two decades at it before buying the established Tara Bella property west of Santa Rosa in 2010. Kevin oversees the vineyard and the winemaking.

The Russian River Valley is best known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but Tara Bella grows Cabernet Sauvignon: six acres in the Olivet district, three of Clone 4 planted in 1998 and three of Clone 7 planted in 2005. All the wines are 100% estate grown: a Reserve and an Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, about 250 cases each, and a small Rosé of Cabernet.

Production is about 500 cases a year, and more than 90% goes to wine club members. Tara Bella is no longer open to the public for tasting; to buy, join the club or contact the winery by phone or email. For a day of small, hands-on producers, we take guests to estates nearby that do open their doors.

Tasting Fees

Tara Bella does not offer tastings.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:20 a.m. from a Santa Rosa hotel such as Vinarosa or Hotel E.

10:20 · Pickup at Vinarosa or Hotel E

Vinarosa, set among 92 acres of vineyards in Santa Rosa, and Hotel E, a restored 1906 Beaux-Arts landmark on the square in downtown Santa Rosa, are each about 10 minutes from Krutz Family Cellars, the first stop. Since Tara Bella does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after producers nearby that do. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:30 · Krutz Family Cellars

About 10 minutes away. Three brothers from Jackson, Mississippi, make Napa Valley Cabernet from their own block of Beckstoffer Georges III, the old Beaulieu Vineyard No. 3, alongside Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir, in a Santa Rosa winery where the tasting room and the cellar share one roof; winemaker Cole Krutz is happy to host guests for a tasting and tour. The fee is confirmed when we book. By appointment only.

11:40 · Battaglini Estate Winery

About 10 minutes away. Joe and Lucia Battaglini's family winery on Piner Road, where the Zinfandel and Petite Sirah vines that Italian immigrant Bartholomew Lagomarsino planted in 1885 still bear fruit, with a bocce court beside the Italian-style tasting room. The tasting of at least six wines is $25 for an hour; the VIP Tasting and Tour, hosted by a family member with barrel tastings and a walk through the winery and vineyard, is $75 for two hours. By appointment only, arranged by phone.

1:00 · Lunch at Handline

About 20 minutes away. A casual Sebastopol spot, open since 2016, with seasonal food from local farmers and fishermen, served mostly outdoors. Open daily from 11 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:30 · Stonemason Cellars

About 20 minutes away. TJ and Francesca Elam's small-batch winery in Santa Rosa's historic Railroad Square, named for TJ's ancestor Batista Maggetti, a Swiss stonemason who helped build the Greystone winery in St. Helena. The seated Reserve Flight of four Harmon Family Reserve wines is $65 (1 to 1.5 hours), and Nibbles & Wine, three wines with small bites, is $25. Walk-ins welcome; open until 7 p.m., 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

3:45 · Back to your hotel

Back in Santa Rosa by 4:00 p.m., within six hours of pickup.

Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Krutz and Battaglini are by appointment, so we confirm both when we book.

About $90 per person at Battaglini and Stonemason (the seated tasting and the Reserve Flight), paid directly to each winery; the Krutz tasting fee is to be verified upon reservation.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
