Jason Passalacqua grew up among his family's Dry Creek Valley vineyards and is a fourth-generation vintner; his great-aunt Edith was one of the first women to make, own and run a winery in California after Prohibition. He began making wine in 2000 while working as a mechanical engineer, moved home to Healdsburg in 2002, bought the winery property on Lambert Bridge Road in 2003 and opened Passalacqua Winery in 2004.
The heart of the list is Cabernet Sauvignon from the TR Passalacqua Vineyard, 110 acres his parents, Tom and Sandi, planted in 1996 on a former Charolais cattle ranch at the southern tip of the valley; the winery takes only about 4 percent of the fruit each year. Winemaker Jessica Boone, who made the wine at Armida from 2003 to 2010, joined in 2012, and she also makes single-vineyard Zinfandels, Russian River Chardonnay and Fiano when there is some. The wines are sold only at the winery.
Passalacqua takes just a handful of appointments a day, and in good weather the seated tastings are on a deck under the redwood trees with your own host. For Cabernet lovers, the Single Block Cabernet tasting is something few wineries offer: five Cabernets from the same vineyard, vintage and clone, poured side by side so you can taste what each block gives. The winery sits just off Dry Creek Road, a couple of hundred yards from the Dry Creek General Store.
No fee for a regular Wine Appointment for groups of four or fewer; groups of five or more pay a per-person fee, waived with purchases. $75 per person for the Single Block Cabernet tasting of five Cabernet Sauvignons, which can also be waived with purchases.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
