About the Winery

Courtney Humiston worked for more than ten years as a sommelier and wine journalist, mostly in restaurants but also in vineyards and cellars across Northern California, fitting in harvest internships when she could. A self-described Champagne obsessive, she founded Delphinium in 2021, named for the blue flower whose color is one of the rarest in nature. The company is founded, owned and run by her, and in 2024 Wine Enthusiast named her one of its Future 40 tastemakers.

Delphinium is a California Crémant: a traditional-method sparkling wine inspired by the Loire Valley rather than Champagne, made from organically farmed grapes with native-yeast fermentation and as few additions as possible, by hand rather than with commercial machinery. The winery describes the flavors as just-ripe stone fruit, coastal flowers, citrus blossom and sea spray. A portion of profits goes to the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation for tide pool conservation, and the San Francisco Chronicle gave the wine a full-page feature in June 2025.

There is no tasting room. Delphinium sells online and pours at occasional events, and the website lists no visiting program. For a day of sparkling and small-production wine around Healdsburg, we take guests to wineries nearby that do open their doors.

Tasting Fees

Delphinium does not offer tastings.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:15 a.m. from a Healdsburg hotel such as Hotel Healdsburg or Harmon Guest House.

10:15 · Pickup at Hotel Healdsburg or Harmon Guest House

Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, and Harmon Guest House, a boutique hotel just off the plaza, are each about 5 minutes from Orsi Family Vineyards, so we collect you at 10:15 for the 10:30 opening. Since Delphinium does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:30 · Orsi Family Vineyards

About 5 minutes away. The Orsi family's tasting room among cypress trees, olive groves and 70 acres of vineyard, two minutes from downtown Healdsburg, pouring rare Italian grapes such as Biancolella from Ischia, Negroamaro and Sagrantino. The Solo Vino tasting is $35 for 1 to 8 guests. Open Thursday to Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; reservations recommended.

11:55 · Williamson Wines

About 25 minutes away. Bill and Dawn Williamson's Yoakim Bridge Estate and its century-old vineyard, where every tasting is seated and comes with food from the winery's chefs; the wines are sold only by the winery, never in stores or restaurants. Icon Wines with artisan cheeses is $60 and Icon Wines with a chef-prepared lunch is $75; allow about 90 minutes. Appointments recommended.

1:35 · Lunch at Catelli's

About 10 minutes away. Santi and Virginia Catelli opened this Geyserville restaurant in 1936, and their granddaughter, chef Domenica Catelli, carries on the family's handmade Italian cooking. Open Wednesday to Sunday from noon; we reserve the table for you. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:55 · Convene by Dan Kosta

About 15 minutes away. Dan Kosta, co-founder of Kosta Browne, pours his new wines here with winemaker Shane Finley in a lounge at Bacchus Landing, a winery cooperative with an olive-tree courtyard. The Grail tasting of his single-vineyard Pinot Noirs is $65; fees for the Classically Convene tasting are confirmed when we book. Open Thursday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; reservations suggested on weekends.

3:55 · Back to your hotel

Back in Healdsburg by 4:00 p.m.

Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting. Orsi is open Thursday to Sunday, so this day works on those days. Lunch comes later than usual because Williamson's seated tasting with food runs about 90 minutes.

About $160 to $175 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
