Dry Creek Valley · Sonoma County
The Kosta Browne co-founder's next chapter, poured in a wine lounge at Bacchus Landing a mile from the plaza, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

Dan Kosta built wine lists at high-end restaurants such as John Ash & Co. before co-founding Kosta Browne, one of California's most celebrated Pinot Noir names. Convene is the next chapter: a smaller project where he continues to make Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from top California appellations. His winemaker is Shane Finley, whom he has worked with since the early Kosta Browne days and who has made wine from the Barossa Valley to the Northern Rhône.
Convene focuses on appellation blends, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay drawn from several carefully chosen vineyards within the Russian River Valley, the Sonoma Coast and the Santa Lucia Highlands, made in Santa Rosa. Grail by Dan Kosta is the single-vineyard side of the work: only the vineyards and barrels that meet his standard, from sites he considers California's answer to the great Pinot Noir crus.
The lounge is the first tasting room on the right inside the gates of Bacchus Landing, a cluster of small wineries around an olive-tree courtyard just west of the Healdsburg roundabout. You can settle in with a glass, take a guided Pinot Noir and Chardonnay tasting, or book the Grail tasting. For a special occasion, Dan and Katie Kosta host private Grail tastings and lunches at Folia Bar & Kitchen at Appellation Healdsburg.
$65 per person for the Grail by Dan Kosta tasting, free for Kosta Collective club members. Fees for the Classically Convene tasting are to be verified upon reservation, and the private Grail experiences at Folia are quoted on request.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Hotel Healdsburg, on the town plaza, and The Madrona, a 24-room hotel on a historic estate on Westside Road, are each about 5 minutes from Bacchus Landing, so we collect you at 10:50 for the 11 a.m. opening. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
