About the Winery
Cobden Wini Wines was founded in 2012 by Mark Davis, who owns the label and makes the wines. It produces small lots from vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma County, with a focus on Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
The Cabernets come from the historic Old Federal Vineyard in Oakville: the 2022 Old Federal Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon ($110, 150 cases) and the 2023 Oakville Reserve Cabernet ($225, 50 cases). The Pinot Noirs come from Russian River Valley sites including Moore Family Vineyard, Rowe Family Vineyard, Giusti Ranch's Julia's Vineyard and Hogan's Run, and the Paddy's Blend Pinot Noir rose ($50) is released each spring. The list has also included an Oak Knoll District Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, Rhone varieties and sparkling wine.
Cobden Wini has no tasting room in Napa or Sonoma, so it does not receive visitors here; the winery says its wines are poured by appointment at sister winery Dara Cellars in Northern Virginia. Releases go to the mailing list and wine club. The day below stays around the town of Sonoma, close to where the wines are made.

MacArthur Place, a few blocks from the Sonoma Plaza, and Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, in Boyes Hot Springs, are about 15 minutes from the first stop. The day runs about six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

About 5 minutes away. Tastings on an oak knoll in a 375-acre park where California premium wine began. The seated Wine Tasting Flight is $45 to $55, 1 hour 15 minutes.

About 5 minutes away, just off the Plaza. Mountain Cabernet from a screenwriter's Moon Mountain estate, poured just off the Sonoma Plaza. The Signature Flight is $35, waived with a three-bottle purchase. We plan about an hour.

Ram's Gate is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so plan this day for Thursday to Monday. Bartholomew opens at 11 a.m. and recommends advance reservations.
