About the Winery

Elizabeth and her husband Chad were looking for a weekend escape from San Francisco summers in 2017 when they bought a house in Sonoma County that came with 42 acres and an old winery. They fixed up both, and at the end of 2019 Elizabeth left a career in technology and real estate to make wine. She named the label after her great-grandmother and Chad's grandfather, and it is a woman-led, woman-owned business.

In September 2020 the Glass Fire reached the property and their mountaintop home burned to the ground in a couple of hours. The new winery survived, and so did every bottle inside it. That first vintage was released in the spring of 2021, followed by a Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc and a 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery makes small lots of low-intervention wines from organically and sustainably farmed Sonoma County grapes.

Adelaide Thomas is about as small and personal as a winery gets, in the hills east of Santa Rosa, with no public tasting room and very limited releases sold to its mailing list. Visits are by private request: we arrange it on your behalf with the owners and confirm the details when we book. For guests who like to meet the person who made the wine, and hear a story of resilience firsthand, this is a rare stop.
