A. Torano Wines is the Torano family's label. Proprietor Arthur Torano, whose grandfather Arturo built a leaf tobacco business in Cuba, found his passion for wine in 2001. In 2011 the family, then living in Miami, bought Mi Cielo, a small Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on a steep hillside in Alexander Valley, and released its first vintage in 2012. The family moved to Sonoma County in 2014, and the 2019 wildfires reached Mi Cielo, destroying its water tank, irrigation lines and part of the north block.
The family now makes a catalog of seven small-lot wines from vineyards across Sonoma County, from the slopes of Sonoma Mountain to the cool Russian River Valley, ranging from Sauvignon Blanc to Syrah.
Today the family lives in Tucson, Arizona, home to the label's only tasting room, which the website says is temporarily closed over licensing matters. Wine is sold through the website and La Sociedad wine club. There is no tasting room in Sonoma County, so A. Torano does not receive visitors here. The day below goes to three Alexander Valley estates near where the family's story began.
A. Torano does not offer tastings in Sonoma County. The three wineries on the day below run about $100 per person: $40 at Hanna, $30 at Stuhlmuller and $30 at Trione.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
