About the Winery

Y by YOSHIKI began in 2009, after YOSHIKI, the Japanese composer and musician, visited Napa Valley and met Michael Mondavi and his son Rob Mondavi Jr., a fourth-generation winemaker of the Mondavi family. The first vintage, 2008, launched that fall as a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay. More series followed in 2016, a California line in 2018 and Russian River Valley wines in 2020.

Today the range runs from the California Rosé and the Encore Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay to a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and the flagship Oakville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The Oakville and Russian River wines paused after smoke from the 2020 wildfires and have since returned. YOSHIKI has also made Champagne with the house of Pommery.

Most of the wine is sold in Japan, through hotels, restaurants, wine shops and YOSHIKI's official store, and releases are known there for selling out almost at once. There is also a members' club. Y by YOSHIKI has no tasting room and does not receive visitors. The day below stays in the middle of the valley, with private tastings at family estates near Oakville and St. Helena.

Tasting Fees

Y by YOSHIKI does not offer tastings.
