Angelina, Alycia, Riana and Giovanna Mondavi are the daughters of Marc Mondavi and granddaughters of Peter Mondavi Sr., and each grew up working summers at the family's Charles Krug winery. Angelina, the eldest, made the first vintage of Dark Matter in 2005. In January 2017 the sisters acquired Aloft, the Howell Mountain label their father introduced in 2008.
The collection is rooted on Howell Mountain. Dark Matter Zinfandel comes from the sisters' own Four Sisters Vineyard, and Limitless Cabernet Sauvignon from their parents' Rocky Ridge Vineyard on Las Posadas Road, both above the fog line at about 1,700 feet. Aloft is a single-vineyard Cabernet from the family's Cold Springs Vineyard, now joined by a Chenin Blanc.
Every experience is hosted personally by one of the sisters at a family estate, with stories of the family and of Napa Valley's early vintners. The Quintessential Tasting pours four wines, Monday through Saturday. Visits are booked by request, and the sisters confirm the details and location directly; we arrange it on your behalf.
$125 per person for the Quintessential Tasting of four wines, complimentary with the purchase of two 3-packs per couple. $300 for The Keys to the Vault, with library vintages (Monday to Friday). $200 for the Sisters' Picnic (May to September, weekdays, minimum 4).
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
