William & Mary is a small family label built on a family ranch. Mary was born and raised on Shifflett Ranch, and she remembers being embarrassed to say where she was from, since many people then linked Napa with the state hospital. William is a fellow Californian from San Diego. They met through friends over drinks, and a move north, a wedding and a family followed.
The Shifflett family bought the ranch at the end of Darms Lane, just south of Yountville in the Oak Knoll District, in the early 1940s. Over the decades it has run horses, cattle and olives, but grapes now take center stage, and three generations on it is still home to the extended family. The current releases are a 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon and a 2022 Proprietary Red, both from Shifflett Ranch.
The wines are offered by allocation to the mailing list. William & Mary has no tasting room and publishes no visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below stays close to the ranch, with private tastings between Yountville and the city of Napa, including a cave visit and an afternoon in the middle of a working vineyard.
William & Mary Wine Co does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

North Block Hotel and Hotel Villagio are both in Yountville, about 8 minutes from the first stop. The day runs a little past six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

About 15 minutes away. A private afternoon tasting in the middle of a working vineyard, poured by second-generation Napa winemaker Chris Corley and winegrower Julianna Corley with light seasonal bites. $75 per person; we allow about 90 minutes. By reservation only; the vineyard location is confirmed with the booking.
Back in Yountville by about 4:20 p.m., a little over six hours after pickup.
About $225 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Rockmere and Chris Corley confirm their times and locations with the booking, so drive times may shift a little. The day runs a little past six hours; extra time is billed by the hour. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
