About the Winery

Michael Parmenter and Kiky Lee bought their land on the slopes of Atlas Peak in 1999, then built their home, planted the vines, dug a cave and built the winery. Michael farms the vineyard and has long made the wine, and Kiky handles design and marketing. The first VinRoc wine was released in 2004, and the winery has come through the region's recent wildfires.

The estate sits at about 1,600 feet in the Atlas Peak AVA, with warm days and cool nights. About 5 of its 35 acres are planted, and production stays under 1,000 cases, mostly an intense estate Cabernet Sauvignon aged two years in French oak, plus a second Cabernet called Coyotes Howl. Michael likes to say it is a destination winery "with more coyotes than tourists."

Visits are by appointment only, with a limited number each week. The visit is a guided tour with views across the valley and a tasting in the rock-hewn cave, including barrel samples. We make the request with the winery on your behalf. Allow time for the climb up Atlas Peak Road; at the top is a quiet, working family winery.
