About the Winery

The Renteria family has farmed Napa Valley grapes since the early 1960s, when Salvador Renteria, a barber, turned to vineyard work. His son Oscar and Oscar's wife, Denise, founded Tres Perlas, which began producing wine in 1997 and is named for their three daughters. Oscar leads Renteria Vineyard Management, which farms more than 2,200 acres, and was named the Napa Valley Grapegrowers' 2025 Grower of the Year.

The wines come from family vineyards and one famous neighbor: the 50-acre Renteria 360 Vineyard in Oakville, the Renteria Brown Ranch of about 30 acres in the Los Carneros AVA, and Beckstoffer To Kalon in Oakville, source of the Desde Luisa Cabernet Sauvignon. The list runs to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and rosé, made in small, vineyard-designated lots.

Tres Perlas is not open to the public. The wines go to members, with customizable shipments through the year; to join, write to Membership@tresperlas.com or call 707-253-7686. Since the family does not receive visitors, the day below takes you to three small Carneros and Mount Veeder estates that do, each a quiet, by-appointment visit.

Tasting Fees

Tres Perlas does not offer tastings.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Carneros Resort and Spa or Stanly Ranch.

10:00 · Pickup at Carneros Resort and Spa or Stanly Ranch

Since Tres Perlas does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Carneros Resort and Spa and Stanly Ranch, both set among the Carneros vineyards, are each about 10 minutes from the first stop. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:15 · Arietta

About 10 minutes away. Andy Erickson's label, poured at the Hudson winery on the Carneros ranch where its flagship H Block Cabernet Franc grows. The Classic Portfolio Tasting of six current releases is $100, 60 to 90 minutes. By appointment, Tuesday to Saturday.

11:50 · Hillwalker Vineyards

About 20 minutes away. A boutique vineyard at 1,000 feet on Mount Veeder that proprietor Kevin Morrison brought back to life, farmed organically and dry-farmed. By appointment or private request; the fee is confirmed when we book. We allow about an hour.

1:10 · Lunch at Oenotri

About 20 minutes away. Lunch at Oenotri on First Street in downtown Napa, an Italian restaurant serving lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:35 · Cavalli e Vigne

About 12 minutes away. Toyon Farm in Carneros, 35 acres of vines first planted in 1993 beside the Hyde vineyard, whose fruit has gone into wines from Saintsbury and Alpha Omega. Private experiences by appointment; the fee is confirmed when we book. We allow about an hour.

3:35 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 3:50 p.m., under six hours after pickup.

About $100 per person at Arietta; Hillwalker Vineyards and Cavalli e Vigne confirm their fees when the visits are booked. Fees are paid directly to each winery.

Arietta hosts Tuesday to Saturday; on other days we suggest another Carneros estate. Hillwalker and Cavalli e Vigne host by request, so we send the requests early. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
