Syndicate Wines brings three labels together under the Cranor family. It began in 2005, when Jeff Cranor started a small négociant project; he and his son Collin then built a winery and tasting room in a Livermore Valley warehouse, and Nottingham Cellars made its first in-house vintage in 2009. Craig Ploof joined as director of winemaking in 2018, and became a partner when the labels merged as Syndicate in 2025.
In 2019 the team began buying Napa Valley fruit for Grape Culture, a label of single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, and in 2020 and 2021 they built their own production facility in Napa. The winery says Grape Culture earned more than fifty scores of 90 points or higher in its first three vintages, eighteen of them 95 or above. Growers include Beckstoffer, Sangiacomo, Bien Nacido and Gap's Crown, and Typicité focuses on coastal Pinot Noir.
Visits are at Grape Culture HQ, the winery in the industrial district just south of downtown Napa where every Syndicate wine is made. The winery says its winemaking team is typically around and happy to spend time with visitors, which it calls a rarity in Napa these days. Tastings are private and by appointment, and we arrange the time for you.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. The winery does not publish its fees online; the Napa Valley Vintners listing shows private flights from $40 to $100, about 90 minutes, complimentary for club members.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
