About the Winery

Brad Solso and Mavis Yee started Stolen Owl after a friend offered them a ton of Malbec from his Knights Valley vineyard in 2017. The Tubbs Fire kept them from making that first wine, but they hired winemaker Charles McKahn and began buying Cabernet Sauvignon from top Napa Valley vineyards. Their 2019 Knights Valley Malbec was selected as the world's best Malbec in 2023.

The couple also planted a small estate vineyard on the west side of Howell Mountain, where volcanic soil meets topsoil from the Rutherford Bench, farmed by Silverado Farmers. The 2023 harvest was the first estate vintage. The winery itself is on Deer Park Road, minutes from downtown St. Helena, in the Crystal Springs of Napa Valley AVA.

Tastings here are for wine club members, by appointment, in what the winery calls an open, scenic setting. Joining the club is the way in, and members are also invited to private events with the winemaking team. Fees and days are not published; once you join, we request the appointment and plan the rest of the day around the time the winery offers.

Tasting Fees

Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Stolen Owl hosts wine club members only and does not publish a tasting fee.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
