Squam Rock Wines describes itself as a small group of family and friends making wine from the heart of Napa Valley. The name comes from childhood summers on the East Coast: the Great Rock at Annisquam, known locally as Squam Rock, which the owners see as a symbol of permanence, heritage and family. The wines are made by a Napa Valley winemaker the site introduces as Rudy, who farms with organic and biodynamic practices.
Grapes come from a select few Napa Valley vineyards, with a preference for sustainable, organic and biodynamic farming. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, the flagship, is 100% Cabernet from two Napa Valley vineyards, one warmer and one cooler, aged two years in French oak, 40% new, and sells for $95. Current releases also include a 2019 Red Wine Blend, a 2021 Sémillon and a 2022 Rosé. The bottle illustrations are by Chicago screenprint artist Jay Ryan, known for his concert posters.
There is no tasting room or visitor address, so Squam Rock does not receive visitors. Wines are sold through the online shop and the wine club, which offers priority allocation, annual discounts and free UPS ground shipping. The day below stays in the hills east of Napa and the Oak Knoll District, at three estates that do host.
Squam Rock does not offer tastings.
On the day below, tastings are $150 at Palmaz, $45 at Trefethen and $60 at Darioush, paid directly to each winery.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
