About the Winery

Ru Vango sits on a piece of Carneros history. Mahoney, whom the winery calls the maestro of Pinot clones, planted the vineyard in 1972 on what was then Carneros Creek Winery, and his clones still grow here. In 2004 Michael Mondavi began a new chapter on the property. Today the Carneros estate's wines are poured in the Ru Vango tasting room on Dealy Lane.

Carneros, the southernmost part of Napa Valley, is the coolest growing area in the valley, cooled by fog and evening breezes off San Pablo Bay, and the Los Carneros AVA is known for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Ru Vango's motto is 'Wine is the only art you can taste.' The vineyard is certified Fish Friendly Farming and Napa Green.

What sets the visit apart is the art. The tasting room doubles as a gallery, with the complete set of Salvador Dalí's Les Chants de Maldoror etchings alongside sculpture and paintings by Sir Daniel Winn. Walk-ins are welcome Monday to Saturday, larger parties are easy to arrange, and you may bring your own food. Guests who love art could spend a long time here.

Tasting Fees

Tastings start at $45 per person. Durations are not published; we allow about an hour.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
