About the Winery

Norman "Bud" Robinson retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel in 1967 and bought 78 acres in Napa Valley with his wife Helen, known as Dinky. Friends and neighbors, including the pioneers Nathan Fay and Father Tom Turnbull, convinced them the land could grow great grapes, and they planted the first vines in 1970. Their daughter Susie Robinson Jinks took over the estate in 1998.

The estate sits on the eastern edge of the Stags Leap District, backed against the rocky cliffs of the Palisades, which reflect the sun onto the vines by day and funnel cool air from San Pablo Bay through in the late afternoon. Seven acres of hillside vineyard grow the five Bordeaux varieties, the winery is built into the mountain slope, and production is about 1,150 cases.

This is a family visit in the truest sense: the winery promises you will meet at least one, and sometimes all, of the Robinsons. Susie and her husband Tom, the self-described resident storyteller, run it with their three daughters. The private tour and seated tasting of four current releases is held in the tasting room or on a lawn ringed by old oaks, vines and rock formations.

Tasting Fees

$65 per person for the private tour and seated tasting of four current releases, about an hour and 15 minutes ($75 per person for groups of eight or more). Waived with a purchase of four bottles per person or couple.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
