About the Winery

pureCru is the label of winemaker Mitch Cosentino, who calls it "a winemaker's wine project" and says he is personally involved from the vineyard to the bottle. With more than 40 harvests behind him, he wanted to return to a small, hands-on winery like the one he started with, and released his first premium pureCru vintage in 2007.

The winery describes access to vineyard sites throughout Northern California and wines built for balance, character and depth, made in small batches to go with fine food. The wines are allocated to private clients and collectors at each vintage, and the membership program has two levels: Club Cru, four bottles three times a year at 15 percent off, and Club Coz, six bottles three times a year at 20 percent off, with a red-only option. Club releases go out in October, February and May, with pickup weekends and tastings at a Napa location.

There is no public tasting room. pureCru says it offers private wine tastings by appointment only, and members receive complimentary private tastings for themselves and up to four guests three times a year. The day below takes you to three estates near Napa, and we can request a pureCru private tasting on your behalf.

Tasting Fees

pureCru does not publish a fee for its private tastings; members receive three complimentary private tastings a year.

On the day below, the Hendry Red Wine Flight is $50, Trefethen's Winery Flights are $45, and Robert Biale's Valley Vista tasting is $50.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a downtown Napa hotel such as Andaz Napa or Archer Hotel Napa.

10:00 · Pickup at Andaz Napa or Archer Hotel Napa

Alongside a private tasting at pureCru, which we request by appointment, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby. Both hotels are on First Street in downtown Napa, about 10 minutes from the first stop. The day runs about six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:15 · Hendry Ranch Wines

About 10 minutes away. A ranch on Redwood Road farmed by the Hendry family since 1939, where every wine comes from estate grapes. The Red Wine Flight is $50, about an hour, waived with an equivalent purchase. Daily by appointment.

11:35 · Trefethen Family Vineyards

About 15 minutes away. A family estate in the Oak Knoll District around Napa Valley's last 19th-century wooden gravity-flow winery. Winery Flights are $45, about an hour. Daily, by prepaid reservation.

12:45 · Lunch at Bistro Don Giovanni

About 5 minutes away. A Napa favorite for more than 30 years, serving Italian dishes built around its own culinary garden, among the vineyards just north of town. We confirm hours and reserve a table when we book. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:05 · Robert Biale Vineyards

About 5 minutes away. Heritage Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from a family farm on Big Ranch Road, home of Black Chicken. The Valley Vista tasting is $50, 90 minutes, outdoors on the Back Porch. By appointment.

3:35 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 3:50 p.m., about six hours after pickup.

About $145 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

All three wineries host daily by appointment. If you would like a pureCru private tasting, we can request one and fit it into the day once the winery confirms a time and place.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
