Bart and Barb O'Brien visited Napa Valley on their third date, and Barb told Bart she dreamed of owning land there. The couple later bought this estate in the Oak Knoll District, a historic property that was once the 39th bonded winery started after Prohibition. The O'Brien family still owns and runs it.
The estate covers 40 acres, 33 of them planted, and every wine is grown, made and bottled on the property, aged in small French oak barrels. The wines form what the family calls a Romantic Portfolio, eight wines that trace a relationship from first blush to lasting devotion, and Bart writes a poem to Barb for each back label.
Visits are private and seated. The 90-minute Private Tasting includes a walk through the cellar, a stroll in the vineyard and five estate wines at your own table. The estate is Napa Green certified, and peak-season dates often sell out two to three weeks ahead.
$85 for the Tasting Experience at the Estate (private, about 90 minutes, five estate wines with a cellar walk and vineyard stroll). $150 for the Reserve Tasting, about two hours.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
