About the Winery

Drew Neiman (pronounced nigh-man) grew up in Akron, Ohio, where cousins ran a wine shop, and was drawn to the wines John Kongsgaard was making at Newton Vineyard. After three years of asking, he was offered a cellar job at Newton in the fall of 1994 and spent 11 years with Kongsgaard, becoming his assistant winemaker. In 1997 Kongsgaard offered him a grape contract with Caldwell Vineyard in Coombsville, and that became the start of Neiman Cellars.

Through the 2021 vintage the Chardonnay came from the Hayne Vineyard in Coombsville, old Wente-clone vines planted in 1967, fermented with native yeast in barrel and aged up to 20 months. The 2021 Napa Valley Red Wine is about two-thirds Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Coombsville Cabernet Franc, and earlier reds blended Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from Caldwell. Production is under 1,000 cases a year, nearly all sold directly to customers, and the Napa Wine Project lists The French Laundry as its one restaurant account.

Neiman Cellars has no tasting room, is not open to the public and lists a post office box in Napa; its website is not working at present. The day below goes to three Coombsville and Napa wineries that host, starting with Caldwell, where Neiman's first grapes came from.

Tasting Fees

Neiman Cellars does not offer public tastings.

On the day below, the Caldwell Vineyard Tasting Experience is $150, Shadybrook's Grand Terrace tasting is $95 and the bar tasting at Vintner's Collective, where Tournesol pours, is $50.

Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
