Luc and Jodie Morlet, a husband-and-wife team, founded Morlet Family Vineyards in 2006. Luc is the fifth generation of a French winegrowing family from Avenay-Val-d'Or in Champagne. Before starting his own label he worked five harvests with consultant Michel Rolland and was full-time winemaker at Peter Michael Winery from 2001 to 2005. Their daughter Claire joined the family business in 2024.
In 2010 the Morlets bought a pre-Prohibition stone winery built in 1880 and reopened it in 2012 after a year and a half of renovation. The estate vineyard around it, in the St. Helena AVA, is planted entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon. The family also farms vineyards in Oakville and Knights Valley, and Luc's wines have earned 100-point scores across several varietals.
Visits are limited and by appointment only, Monday through Saturday. Each tasting is private and seated, just your party, and starts with a brief tour of the historic winery. The pour usually spans Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, a Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and a late harvest Sémillon.
$200 for the private, seated tasting with a brief tour of the historic winery, about 90 minutes. The fee is waived with the purchase of six bottles per person.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
