About the Winery

In the 1870s this land in Conn Valley was planted by the Franco-Swiss Farming Company, whose claret the St. Helena Star judged as fine as any. Phylloxera and Prohibition ended it after about 30 years. Bill and Mary Seavey bought the property in 1979 and brought grapes back to it. The Seavey family still owns and runs it today.

By 1990 the family had turned an 1881 stone dairy barn into a small winery. About 40 acres are planted, making roughly 2,000 to 3,000 cases a year of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay. The winery has never bought a grape; every wine comes from the estate. It sits in the Napa Valley AVA, east of St. Helena, and winemaker Jim Duane has led the cellar since 2011.

Visits are small and personal. Guests tour the historic winery and the underground cave, then taste five estate wines side by side, including older bottles from a library that goes back to 1990. Bill and Mary held back about a quarter of each vintage, so a Cabernet in its third decade is often part of the pour.

Tasting Fees

$125 for the Vintage Tasting & Tour, 60 to 90 minutes, a private tour of the winery and cave with a vertical tasting of five estate wines. $175 per person plus a 10% service charge for parties of 8 or more.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
