Michael Quinn founded Michael-Scott Winery in 1996, and in 2026 it is celebrating 30 years. It is a small, bonded Napa Valley winery on the west side of the city of Napa, in the scenic enclave of Browns Valley. Alongside its own label, it offers turnkey private label wine services for clients, from production through fulfillment, as well as storage.
The wines are made in very limited lots, typically 200 to 300 cases per wine and often fewer than 100, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel from Napa and Sonoma fruit, using sustainable practices and organically certified fruit. The winery reports consistent ratings of 92 points and up. Current releases include Howell Mountain and Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and a Dry Creek Zinfandel.
The wines are sold on the winery's website, where you can also sign up for new releases and member pricing. Michael-Scott has no tasting room and publishes no visiting hours or way to book a visit. The day below takes you to three estates in Carneros and north Napa that do welcome guests, a short drive from Browns Valley.
Michael-Scott does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Since Michael-Scott does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do, starting in Carneros, just south of Browns Valley. Archer Hotel Napa, downtown, and The Meritage Resort, at the south end of Napa, are each about 12 minutes from Truchard. The day below fits about six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 12 minutes away. A Carneros family estate of 400 acres, where the tasting is a walk through the vineyards and an 11,000-square-foot wine cave. The Vineyard Tour and Tasting is $55; we allow about 75 minutes. Monday through Friday by reservation only; 21 and over.
About 10 minutes away. A Carneros winery devoted to Pinot Noir for 40 years, which also makes single-vineyard Napa Cabernets. The Cabernet Collection tasting is $85 for about an hour (the seated Terroir Experience is $55). Open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; appointments are recommended and walk-ins are welcome.
About 15 minutes away. Lunch at Grace's Table on Second Street in downtown Napa, a sit-down local favorite open daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. A small family winery with a hillside Cabernet vineyard on Spring Mountain, pouring at a private, seated tasting in its north Napa Tasting Salon. $85, 60 to 90 minutes, waived with six bottles of Cabernet per couple. By appointment, with times from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; 21 and over, groups of eight or fewer.
Back by about 4:00 p.m., six hours after pickup.
About $195 to $225 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Truchard hosts Monday through Friday, so this day works on weekdays.
