About the Winery

McKahn (said Mc Cann) is a family winery started in 2014 by Denise, Kevin and their son Charles McKahn. It began with a 1997 Cabernet that a teenage Charles pulled from the cellar for a family dinner. He went on to study wine at Cal Poly, worked at Chappellet under Phillip Corallo-Titus, and was named head winemaker at Titus Vineyards in 2025.

While most of the valley pours Cabernet, McKahn puts Rhône varieties at the heart of the list: Syrah, Viognier and Mourvèdre, alongside a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The family credits Chuck's Central Coast years for his love of Syrah. Denise, who spent decades at Wente and Concannon, runs the business day to day.

Tastings are private and family-hosted at The Caves at Soda Canyon, a cave winery high on the hillside with a view over the valley. Each visit is about 90 minutes with a cheese plate and plenty of time for questions. Guests tell us the caves are cool, so bring a sweater; the winery keeps blankets on hand.

Tasting Fees

$85 per guest plus tax for the private tasting with a cheese plate, about 90 minutes.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
