Mount Veeder · Napa Valley
An ultra-small Mount Veeder Cabernet house run by its two owners, with private tastings and, in season, a walk through the home vineyard high on the mountain, and a suggested six-hour day of tasting around it.

Majuscule started in 2009 as a side project between Jeff Davis and winemaker Greg Brickey, after a chance introduction to Lisa Chu, a grower on Mount Veeder, who offered them a ton each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The first vintage was just 25 cases of each. In 2018 it became an official winery, rooted in Lisa's two vineyards on the mountain.
The name is the opposite of minuscule: in French, a capital letter. Greg, a former structural engineer who studied winemaking at UC Davis, makes single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc and Bordeaux-style blends from steep volcanic slopes on Mount Veeder, often fewer than 100 cases per wine and about 600 cases a year in all. Jeff, who came from public relations, looks after guests.
Visits are few and personal. Jeff and Greg host a limited number of private tastings in Napa each year, and from late spring to early fall a Seasonal Vineyard Walk lets you taste among the vines of the home vineyard on Mount Veeder. Wine club members get first choice of dates, so we ask early and work around the owners' schedule.
Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Majuscule does not publish a fee for its private tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Good to Know
Availability varies through the year and the place is confirmed with the booking. The owners also host tastings in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area.
Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Archer Hotel Napa or Carneros Resort and Spa.
Majuscule sets the place for each private tasting when it is booked, so the drive to the first stop depends on where Jeff and Greg host you. The day below runs about six and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A private tasting with the owners, or the Seasonal Vineyard Walk on Mount Veeder from late spring to early fall. We plan about 90 minutes; the place and any fee are confirmed by the winery.
About 20 minutes away. Steep Mount Veeder terraces above 1,200 feet, farmed by the Yates family since 1949. A private visit arranged with the family; we plan about 75 minutes, and any fee is confirmed when the visit is set.
About 20 minutes away. Lunch at Angèle, a French brasserie on the Napa River in downtown Napa, serving lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 12 minutes away. A small family estate in the hills east of Napa, whose winemaker wrote the petition for the Coombsville appellation. A private tasting of estate wines, one party at a time ($50); we allow about an hour. Monday to Friday, by appointment.
Back by about 4:30 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.
About $50 per person in tasting fees for Farella, plus the fees for Majuscule and Yates (confirmed when we book), paid directly to each winery.
Majuscule offers only a limited number of private tastings, and Farella hosts Monday to Friday, so we build this day around the date the owners can host.
