About the Winery

Andy Amador grew up working in his father Gus's Pueblo Meat Market, a Napa institution Gus co-founded in 1969. At 27 Andy bought a 188-acre ranch in the eastern Napa Valley and planted 50 acres of vines. In 2001 he and his wife Marissa founded MadoroM with winemaker Mike Blom, a UC Davis graduate who worked as assistant winemaker at Grgich Hills and winemaker at Peju.

The fruit comes from the Amador family's own vineyards on the Silverado Trail in the Oak Knoll District, at the base of Mount Veeder and in Pope Valley. The lineup includes Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, a proprietary red blend, Sauvignon Blanc and a sparkling Brut, plus the Camouflage wines, whose back labels feature hunters and anglers, chosen each year from customer submissions. Custom labels are another specialty.

MadoroM keeps a wine room overlooking the Oak Knoll District, and private tastings there are offered to Club MadoroM members by appointment. There is no public tasting room, so we ask the winery on your behalf whether it can host you, and joining the club is the sure way in. It is a small, family-run place with a strong local following.

Tasting Fees

Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. MadoroM does not publish a fee for its private club tastings.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Milliken Creek Inn or Silverado Resort.

10:00 · Pickup at Milliken Creek Inn or Silverado Resort

Milliken Creek Inn, an inn on the Napa River just off the Silverado Trail, is about 5 minutes from MadoroM, and Silverado Resort, a golf and spa resort at the foot of Atlas Peak, about 10 minutes away. The day below fits well within six hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:15 · MadoroM Vineyards

A private tasting in the wine room, when the winery can host you (club members by appointment). The format and fee are set when MadoroM confirms; we plan about an hour.

11:35 · Kubani Wines

About 15 minutes away. A private, seated tasting at a small winery in the Crusher District at the south end of Napa, in a tasting area reserved for your party alone. $65 (waived with a three-bottle purchase); we allow about an hour. By request, seven days a week.

12:55 · Lunch at Angèle

About 10 minutes away. Lunch at Angèle, a French brasserie on the Napa River in downtown Napa, serving lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

2:15 · Domaine Carneros

About 15 minutes away. A French-style château on a Carneros hilltop and one of the best-known sparkling wine houses in the valley, with a terrace that looks out over the rolling vineyards. The Daily Tasting Experience, a flight of four sparkling wines, starts at $45 for about an hour. By appointment daily from 10 a.m.; everyone must be 21 or older.

3:20 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 3:45 p.m., well within six hours of pickup.

About $110 per person for Kubani Wines and Domaine Carneros, plus any MadoroM fee, which is confirmed when the visit is arranged.

MadoroM's private tastings are for club members by appointment, so we ask early; if the winery cannot host, we suggest another Oak Knoll estate for the first stop. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
