Levy & McClellan was founded in 2004 by husband and wife Bob Levy and Martha McClellan, both long-time Napa winemakers. Bob studied winemaking at UC Davis, worked five years at Cuvaison with Philip Togni, was the founding winemaker at Rombauer and then at Merryvale in 1983, and went on to oversee winemaking at BOND and The Napa Valley Reserve for Bill Harlan. Martha earned a degree in oenology and viticulture from Geisenheim in Germany, helped make Harlan Estate wines as an assistant winemaker, and has been winemaker at Sloan Estate, Blankiet and Checkerboard Vineyards.
Their vineyard sits off Franz Valley School Road a few miles northwest of Calistoga, in the Calistoga AVA, at about 500 feet near the Sonoma County line. Its six acres were planted in 1999, mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Martha makes the wine and Bob runs the vineyard. The whole crop is fermented in new French oak barrels, opened by hand and rolled rather than punched down, with native yeast and no fining or filtering. The wines are a Cabernet Sauvignon and Ampersand, a blend whose mix of varieties changes each year. The couple also press OLIVEA olive oil from Tuscan varieties they planted in 1999.
The wines are sold through a mailing list, with library wines re-released to members, and the Napa Wine Project reports them on lists such as The French Laundry. Levy & McClellan is private, with no appointments or tours, so the day below goes to three Calistoga estates that host.
Levy & McClellan does not offer tastings.
On the day below, Joseph Cellars' Palisades Experience is $75, Tedeschi's Estate Tasting is $35 and Girard's Heritage Tasting is $50.
Tasting fees as of October 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

About 10 minutes away. A Napa name from 1975, back in the valley at a solar-powered estate on Dunaweal Lane. The seated Heritage Tasting of four signature wines is $50, about 90 minutes. Open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; last tasting at 3:30 p.m.
Back by about 4:15 p.m.
