About the Winery

Joviah is the label of winemaker Victoria Coleman, whom the winery describes as the first Black female head winemaker in Napa Valley. She began her career at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars under Warren Winiarski and trained in the enology program at UC Davis. The name comes from the Hebrew Jovia, which the winery translates as "God is gracious and happiness," a thank-you to the mentors who helped her along the way.

Before Joviah, Coleman made the Lobo Wines Wulff Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, which the winery notes earned 96 points from Decanter in 2015 and was named the top California Cabernet in a blind tasting of nearly 200 wines. Joviah's current wines include a 2023 Wulff Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2023 Sticks and Stones Cabernet, made in small lots for balance and restraint.

Joviah sells its wines through the Acquire page on its website and publishes no tasting room or visiting program, so it does not receive visitors. The day below heads into the hills on the east side of the valley, to three estates that host seated, appointment-only tastings with long views.

Tasting Fees

Joviah does not offer tastings.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Meadowood or Auberge du Soleil.

10:00 · Pickup at Meadowood or Auberge du Soleil

Since Joviah does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do, two of them high in the eastern hills. Meadowood and Auberge du Soleil are each about 15 to 20 minutes from Pritchard Hill. The day runs about six and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:20 · David Arthur Vineyards

About 20 minutes away. A family estate high on Pritchard Hill, farmed organically since 1986, reached by a winding road up from the Silverado Trail. The estate tasting is $150, about 90 minutes. By reservation only.

12:05 · Somerston Estate

About 15 minutes away. A working ranch of more than 1,600 acres in the hills east of the valley, reached by a long gated drive, with vines climbing past 2,000 feet. The Somerston Estate Experience is $150, 90 minutes, for 2 to 4 guests. Prepaid on Tock, with start times from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

1:55 · Lunch at Auberge du Soleil

About 20 minutes away. Lunch high on Rutherford Hill with the whole valley below. The Bar serves all day from 11:30 a.m., and The Restaurant on the terrace offers a two- or three-course prix fixe lunch. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

3:15 · Raymond Vineyards

About 12 minutes away. A biodynamically farmed estate south of St. Helena whose main tasting salon looks out over the vines. The Red Room Tasting is $95; we allow about an hour. By reservation; open Thursday to Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

4:15 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 4:30 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.

About $395 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Raymond opens Thursday to Monday, so plan this day for one of those days. The mountain drives make this a longer day, about six and a half hours; extra time is billed by the hour. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
