About the Winery

Hossfeld Vineyards is family owned and operated, and the family does everything itself: Lucia Hossfeld and Chad McComber handle all of the grape growing and winemaking. The estate sits at the base of Soda Canyon, between the Stags Leap District and Atlas Peak appellations, inside the broader Napa Valley AVA.

The soil is entirely volcanic, with outcroppings of rhyolite and andesite breaking through the slopes at about 1,000 feet. Twenty acres of vines grow in eight blocks with different exposures. The historic Coliseum Block has been producing hillside Cabernet Sauvignon for about 45 years, and the family farms with no-till, organic and regenerative methods among meadows and native forest.

The winery is allocation based and sells mainly to its mailing list, so there is no tasting room. The family's own guidance is simply to call ahead for a vineyard tour, which we arrange for you. Besides the Coliseum Block Cabernet, the lineup includes Merlot, a Malbec-led mountain blend and a co-fermented white of Malvasia Bianca, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay.

Tasting Fees

Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation. Hossfeld does not publish a tour or tasting fee.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
