About the Winery

Todd Anderson, owner and winemaker of Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards, began developing Ghost Horse in the late 1990s and kept it secret for ten years. The first vintage was 2000, and the wines came to light only in December 2009, at a double-blind tasting in New York that set Ghost Horse against cult wines. Todd trained as a geologist and has made wine in Napa Valley for more than three decades.

The vineyard is planted densely, about 2,200 vines per acre, and gives five separate 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignons, each from its own part of the vineyard and made its own way; the names include Fantôme, Apparition and Spectre. Chardonnay joined in 2012. Production is a few hundred cases a year, sold only through a direct relationship with Todd, and the winery says the wines are not in any shop or restaurant.

A visit is a private tasting hosted by Todd in the Ghost Horse cave or out in the vineyard, with charcuterie. The Spectre Experience pours five current wines, and the pricier experiences add barrel samples, members-only selections or library wines back to the first vintage. It is expensive and very personal, and we set it up directly with Todd. Dinners with Todd can be arranged too.

Tasting Fees

$1,000 per person for the Spectre Experience, five current wines with charcuterie. $2,500 for the Premonition Experience, adding barrel tastings and members-only selections. $5,000 for the Older Vintage Experience, with the first vintage and library wines. Lengths are set with Todd.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
