Jeff and Valerie Gargiulo first came to Napa Valley in the early 1980s to visit Valerie's cousins, Barney and Belle Rhodes, who grew grapes at Bella Oaks Vineyard in Rutherford. With years of coaching from them and Jeff's background as a lifelong farmer, the couple bought Money Road Ranch in Oakville in 1992 and added a second Oakville property, 575 OVX, seven years later. Their first Cabernet Sauvignon was the 2000 vintage.
Both vineyards are in the Oakville AVA, about a mile apart, and they taste different. Money Road Ranch is a 40-acre vineyard on deep, layered valley-floor soils in the heart of Oakville. 575 OVX sits in the red, rocky hills of eastern Oakville, on one of the few south-facing hillsides in the appellation. The family farms for low yields, harvests by hand and keeps the winemaking gentle.
The visit is private and seated, and the room itself is a big part of it. The tasting room has reclaimed wood floors from a 1950s Napa gymnasium, chandeliers made from barrel staves and walls built from the property's red rock. Jeff's collection of vintage and handmade guitars hangs in a gallery there, and guests are invited to play one. On a sunny day the tasting moves to the terrace overlooking Oakville.
Gargiulo does not publish a tasting fee. Each visit is a private, seated tasting with a tour of the property, and the fee is confirmed when the appointment is made.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Rancho Caymus Inn or Bardessono.
Rancho Caymus Inn in Rutherford and Bardessono in Yountville are each about 10 minutes from Gargiulo on Oakville Cross Road. We confirm the appointment time with the winery and set the pickup around it. The day below fits a six-hour tour, and extra time can be added by the hour.
A private, seated tasting of the estate Cabernets with a tour of the property, in the tasting room or out on the terrace. The winery does not publish a length, so we plan about an hour and a quarter, with time for the guitar gallery.
About 13 minutes away. A small, organically farmed family estate on the St. Helena benchland, where the visit starts with a short walking tour of the winery and vines before a private, seated tasting. The Estate Tasting is $125, about 90 minutes. By appointment, for up to 8 guests.
About 20 minutes away. Lunch at Brix on Highway 29 between Yountville and Napa, a sit-down restaurant beside its own gardens, serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day but Tuesday. Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 8 minutes away. A third-generation Napa farming family's Oakville estate, marked only by a red mailbox on Highway 29, with tastings in a vineyard-facing salon or on the terrace. The Signature tasting is $75 for 45 to 60 minutes. By appointment only.
Back by about 3:55 p.m., within six hours of pickup.
About $200 per person in tasting fees for Young Inglewood and Gamble Estates, plus Gargiulo's fee, which the winery confirms when the appointment is made. Fees are paid directly to each winery.
Brix is closed on Tuesdays, so on a Tuesday we move lunch to another sit-down restaurant nearby.
