About the Winery

Flying Lady is the Spring Mountain project of father and son David and Zachary Nassar, both pilots. Every bottle carries the Flying Lady, the figurehead that has guarded vessels heading into the unknown on land, sea and air. The estate on Langtry Road was destroyed in the 2020 Glass Fire. Ted Bryce joined them as a partner afterward, and the three rebuilt the home and winery together.

The single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon gets its start high on Spring Mountain alongside the estate, in the Spring Mountain District, and veteran winemaker Leigh Meyering, a UC Davis enologist who began her career on this mountain, makes the wine. The Nassars fly volunteer missions for Angel Flight West, and the winery gives $1 from every bottle sold to the charity.

The visit is all about the view. The estate sits at more than 2,000 feet, and tastings are private, either in the small tasting room or out on the balcony looking across Napa Valley. Flying Lady does not publish set hours or fees, so we request the visit on your behalf and plan about an hour and a quarter. Allow time for the drive up; the winding road is part of the day.

Tasting Fees

Tasting fees to be verified upon reservation.

Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

A Suggested Six-Hour Day

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Alila Napa Valley or Harvest Inn.

10:00 · Pickup at Alila Napa Valley or Harvest Inn

Flying Lady is near the top of Spring Mountain, so we start at 10:00 and take the winding road up for a 10:30 tasting. Alila Napa Valley, a Hyatt resort in downtown St. Helena, is about 25 minutes from the estate, and Harvest Inn, a garden hotel at the south end of town, about 30 minutes. The day below runs about six and three-quarter hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.

10:30 · Flying Lady Winery

A private tasting in the tasting room or on the balcony above the valley, arranged by request. We plan about an hour and a quarter; the time and fee are confirmed by the winery.

12:00 · Barnett Vineyards

About 10 minutes away. A small family estate near the top of Spring Mountain, with views from about 2,000 feet over Napa Valley; guests get a second look at the mountain from a different angle. The Tasting Experience is $125, a guided flight of five current releases in about 90 minutes. Open daily by prepaid appointment, with tastings at 10 a.m., noon and 3 p.m.

1:55 · Lunch at The Charter Oak

About 20 minutes down the mountain. Lunch at The Charter Oak in St. Helena, Christopher and Martina Kostow's family-style New American restaurant, open daily from 11:30 a.m. (11 a.m. on weekends). Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.

3:15 · Viader Vineyards & Winery

About 12 minutes away. A family estate on the steep lower slopes of Howell Mountain, across the valley from Spring Mountain, home of the Cabernet Franc blend the family calls Liquid Cashmere. The Estate Tasting Experience is $100: a guided walk of the hillside property, then three estate-grown red blends with a view over the valley. We allow about 75 minutes. By appointment, Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a $50 per person deposit.

4:30 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 4:45 p.m., about six and three-quarter hours after pickup.

About $225 per person in tasting fees for Barnett and Viader, paid directly to each winery, plus Flying Lady's fee, confirmed with the appointment.

Viader hosts Thursday to Saturday, so this day works Thursday, Friday or Saturday; on other days we swap in another hillside estate. Flying Lady sets its own appointment time, and we adjust the day around it. The day runs about six and three-quarter hours, back by about 4:45 p.m.

Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
