Fluent Wine Company is the label of proprietor Rob Harrison, who caught the wine bug reading back labels at family dinners and learned fine wine working at Stein Eriksen Lodge during college. In his late 20s he moved to Napa Valley and joined Meadowood, where he met many of his mentors. The wines are made with Joe Harden, and the mission is authentic expressions of white wine.
The main wine is Glass Cat, a 100% Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc named for the glass figurine in L. Frank Baum's Oz stories that comes to life with a ruby heart and emerald eyes. Fruit comes from single-vineyard sources, picked by hand and aged in small French oak barrels; the 2022 drew on the minerality of the Panek Vineyard. A Fluent Rosé is a special project.
Fluent's wines go to its Allocation List on a first-come, first-served basis twice a year, in spring and fall, and buyers can then join The Club for guaranteed allocations. The company lists a post office box in St. Helena and no tasting room, so it does not receive visitors. The day below starts in St. Helena and heads to Calistoga, where two small wineries pour in unusual settings.
Fluent does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

About 5 minutes away. A small Calistoga Cabernet winery on the grounds of Four Seasons Napa Valley, with Thomas Rivers Brown as winemaker and a vineyard planted among the villas. The Calistoga Exploration is $55, about 45 minutes. Thursday to Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; final session at 3:30 p.m.
Back by about 3:30 p.m., about five and a half hours after pickup.
