Lawrence D. Fairchild is the proprietor of Stones Wine, Perrarus and Fairchild Napa Valley, and began producing Cabernet Sauvignon in 2005. The name Stones comes from the rocky to extremely rocky vineyards the wines are sourced from. His vision, in his words, was a bottle so visually exquisite that only a handful of collectors would have it in their cellars to share with friends.
The bottles carry labels hand-made in France, and the collection includes Stones No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, Longitude-Latitude, Sigaro and a Stones Chardonnay, with Perrarus as a separate collector line. Releases scheduled for 2026 include Pritchard Hill and Oakville designations and a 2023 Napa Valley Tickets Cabernet Sauvignon.
Stones wines are sold to members only, five days out of the year, through the membership list. The winery uses a post office box in St. Helena and has no public tasting room; from time to time it extends limited invitations to members, guided by the art and wine in its cellar. For everyone else, the day below visits estates around St. Helena that do host.
Fairchild does not offer public tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.

Pickup at 10:00 a.m. from a nearby hotel such as Meadowood or Alila Napa Valley.
Since Fairchild does not host visitors, this day takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do. Meadowood, a resort at the foot of Howell Mountain, and Alila Napa Valley, on the hillside above St. Helena, are each about 10 minutes from the first stop. The day runs about six and a half hours, and extra time can be added by the hour.
About 10 minutes away. Wines from what the winery calls the oldest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines left in Napa Valley, planted in Coombsville in 1967 and tasted after a tour of Joe Heitz's original Home Ranch in St. Helena. A History of Coombsville is $150 plus tax, 90 to 120 minutes. By reservation, daily 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
About 10 minutes away. Lunch at The Charter Oak in St. Helena, a sit-down restaurant cooking over an open hearth, open daily from 11:30 a.m. (brunch from 11 a.m. on weekends). Prefer a picnic? We can arrange a catered picnic at a winery that allows one; the cost is quoted when you book.
About 10 minutes away. A husband-and-wife label from a leading vineyard manager and a barrel expert, poured with food and art at the Brasswood Estate north of St. Helena. The Classic Tasting is $75; we allow about an hour. By advance reservation at least 48 hours ahead, with tastings at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.
About 8 minutes away. A family winery's private studio on Main Street in St. Helena, where each wine is poured with its own playlist, imagery and seasonal bites. The Private Portfolio Tasting is $95 to $125, 60 minutes. By reservation only; every visit is private, one small group at a time.
Back by about 4:30 p.m., about six and a half hours after pickup.
About $320 to $350 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.
Strala needs 48 hours' notice and seats its afternoon tasting at 2 p.m.; NEOTEMPO confirms its time when we book. The day runs about six and a half hours; extra time is billed by the hour. Three wineries is the right pace for a day of serious tasting.
Every tour is custom. This day is a starting point: your chauffeur will shape it around what matters to you, and we plan multi-day tours for guests who want to see more of wine country.
