Doi Da (written Đồi Đá in Vietnamese) is the wine project of Cuong Pham, a former Apple engineer who founded Red Boat Fish Sauce, and his family. Pham sees a kinship between the two crafts: fish sauce and wine are both artisanal, aged in barrels and shaped by where they come from. The winemaker is Nova Cadamatre, a Master of Wine.
The first releases were small lots of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from top sites in Oakville and Rutherford, made while the family established its own vineyard. That estate is a nine-acre hillside parcel on Soda Canyon Road, planted in April 2024 to several clones of Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc on volcanic soils. The first small estate harvest is still to come.
The wines are made in very limited quantities and sold through the winery's website and mailing list. Doi Da publishes no tasting program, and the estate does not receive visitors. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do, starting in the caves on the same road.
Doi Da does not offer tastings.
Tasting fees as of September 2026. Wineries set and collect their own fees, and they change from time to time.
