About the Winery

Dew South is the project of William "Billy" Dewey and Hayley (McIntyre) Dewey. Billy learned the cellar side of the business at David Arthur Vineyards and Dakota Shy. Hayley studied wine and viticulture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and worked in brand management for premium wineries.

The wine is Cabernet Sauvignon from a small vineyard in the Oak Knoll District, between the Mayacamas and Vaca ranges at the southern end of the valley. French Clone 337 grows on the north side and FPS 30 on the south, on 1616C rootstock that lets the vines be mostly dry farmed. The wine ages about 18 months in French oak, a quarter of it new.

This is a very small, young label. The winery's website offers a contact form and social media links but lists no tasting room, address or visiting program, so Dew South does not host visitors. The day below takes you to three sought-after estates nearby that do, starting in the Oak Knoll District.

Tasting Fees

Dew South does not offer tastings.

3:05 · Altamura Vineyards & Winery

About 20 minutes away. A family ranch in quiet Wooden Valley, settled by Karen Altamura's family in 1855, with caves and a stone winery. The hosted tasting of four estate wines with a meat and cheese platter is $75. By appointment through the winery.

4:05 · Back to your hotel

Back by about 4:20 p.m., about six and a quarter hours after pickup.

About $335 per person in tasting fees for the three wineries, paid directly to each winery.

Mt. Brave confirms its meeting point with the booking, and Altamura confirms its time when it accepts the request. Back by about 4:20 p.m.
